A PARTICULAR DAYA particular day in the Gulf of Poets.
A whole day to spend at sea, destination the Gulf of Poets. Boarding is at La Spezia, Porto Mirabello at around 9 in the chilly morning air. Sailing slowly in silence. Seated in the bow cockpit, heartened by a good breakfast and the smell of fresh coffee one can take in the panorama of the coast, still very picturesque in this part of the Mediterranean. The blue of the sea encircles the colours of the small Liguria villages perched on the coast, gulfs and coves are as inviting as the mermaid’s song. One can sunbathe, stop and go for a swim in a small secret bay that seems cut off from the rest of the world. Then it’s back onboard for an aperitif before a lunch filled with the delights of the sea and the countryside: pasta with pesto, vegetable quiche, fish and potatoes, the menu varies on the season and the tastes of the guests.

Two days programmed: the desire to escape the traffic, rush and the boring humdrum is always at hand. The best way is the “Muchacha“, a comfortable and elegant yacht that seems purposely built to symbolize the desire for slowness in every one of us. Sailing peacefully along the coast of the Cinque Terre up to Portofino and S. Fruttuoso: here one can find the clearest water in Liguria and the silence is heightened by the lapping of the sea that breaks on the coast and the whispering of the breeze that caresses the water and the trees on the land. Stopping at will to throw the anchor into solitary coves for a swim or simply to let the waves rock the yacht gently while sunbathing.
Happy hour at sunset when the horizon is aflame, unforgettable, before letting oneself be tempted by a candle lit dinner. The menu will be filled with the tastes and aromas of Liguria and the nights are sweet seen from a ship’s deck. Sleeping rocked by the sea in a haven, if the weather allows it, or in the port, gives the day a different dimension. Portofino and S.Margherita are enticing destinations to go for a walk on land, immerge oneself in shopping, go dancing, but also to sit at a café and watch strange people go by. The next morning you will be woken by the sound of silence and the aroma of a sweet and dreamy breakfast. Before re-starting for a new day on the sea. For those however who love solitude they can choose romantic havens and explore deserted islets to be a little like Robinson Crusoe.
